CHAIRMAN'S REPORT SEPTEMBER
2008
Please read HEARA's report elsewhere in Village News regarding the meeting
with John Gummer, MP and local Conservative party member Trevor Ivory
on the 5th of September, Our thanks go to everyone who braved the awful
weather to attend this important meeting. The meeting went very well,
with plenty of assurances from John Gummer who explained the views of
the Conservative Party on the flooding issue, locally and nationally,
and what they hope to achieve in the future to protect people and their
property.
The Parish Council would like to thank Debi and Tony and the 'young
mums group' for the fantastic combined amount of £1650 from their
'fun' events at the Greyhound Inn during August and September - and
please support the next fund-raising evening at the Greyhound on Friday,
10th October.
These funds will go towards more equipment for the play area at the
Recreation Ground, as this amount can be offered as 'match-funding'
for future grants.
The final draft of the Village Plan is at the printers!
A copy should be delivered to everyone by the end of October.
If you do not receive one, then please contact the Clerk, Shirley, on
598882. As you will see from the action pages at the back of the report,
the Parish Council have been working on various issues since the collation
of the data from the questionnaire and will continue to do so.
If anyone wishes to have the raw data on disc, this is available from
the Clerk at a small charge, as it was impractical to print all the
data and charts.
Are you interested in helping Norfolk Police Authority ensure Norfolk
has an efficient and effective police force? They are looking for people
who can offer constructive advice and help to understand the issues
affecting Norfolk communities. Please see the poster on the GAM notice
board at the Staithe or phone direct for more information on 01953 424455.
A reminder that our Police Community Safety Officer's name in Jeanette
Hawes, and her contact number is 08454564567.
Once again the dark nights will soon be with us, so please ensure you
and your children have some highly visible clothing that can clearly
be seen in car headlights, etc. when out walking or cycling in the dark.
Also, remember with all the wet weather this year, some hedges have
overgrown and encroached onto the highways, and so will require a trim
back, as these pose a danger for pedestrians and cyclists alike.
The next Parish Council meetings - all held at 7.15pm in the Community
Hall -are scheduled for 6th October, 3rd November and 8th December.
You are all cordially invited to attend.
