CHAIRMAN'S REPORT OCTOBER 2007

The St John's Ambulance first-aid course in Hickling, as advertised last month, has attracted four people so far, so we are looking for more to keep the cost down.
The cost is £238 + VAT and is split between the number of persons attending the course
If anyone is interested, please contact either me or Shirley on 598882.

Unfortunately, we did not meet the criteria for a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to modernise our parish play area, but we will keep looking for other funding possibilities, if anyone has had dealings with this type of thing and would be willing to assist, again please call either me or Shirley.

The overall cost of the Chapel Pit renovation scheme totalled £1857, funded by grants of £1400, with the balance from the Parish Council.
With all the new plants and bulbs, this will really enhance the area next year.
If anyone is interested in painting the telephone box, we can supply the paint, etc.
It would be appreciated, as it is a very low priority on BT's agenda!

The Speed Watch scheme for Hickling is still looking for volunteers, who should note that you do not operate in your own village or approach any drivers.
Organised by the local police, you are trained in the use of the cameras and monitoring equipment Volunteers are required for the paperwork side of things as well, even if you do not wish to operate the equipment.
The Parish Council will be charged for taking part in this operation between £188 and £376, depending on how many parishes take part.
Please ring me or Shirley for full information.

The next meeting of the Parish Council takes place in the Community Hall at 7.15pm on Monday, 5th November.
