CHAIRMAN'S REPORT OCTOBER 2005
At our Parish Council meeting on 10th October, our two new councillors were co-opted on to the Parish Council. We had four applicants and, after much thought and discussion, a ballot was held resulting in Mrs Deborah Mayhew and Mr Brian Noye being the two successful candidates. We hope they will enjoy their time on the council and we look forward to working with them. We would also like to thank the two unsuccessful candidates for putting their names forward and hope they will apply again when another vacancy occurs.

The Council are very grateful for all the volunteers who have given their time to grass-cutting around the village this last year. It has saved the council a fair sum of money. Many thanks to everyone concerned, as it is really appreciated.
BUT we do really need some more volunteers for next year's season, so please see if you have some time to spare - even a couple of hours would be put to good use.

A token beacon was lit in celebration of Nelson's Battle of Trafalgar Bicentenary and St Mary's church bells were rung at 7pm on the 21st, coinciding with others around the country.
I would like to thank Tony Woodman and his helpers for organising this gesture.

A reminder to all hirers of the Community Hall: this must be left in the same condition as when it was hired; i.e., floor swept, tables cleaned and stored away with the chairs, and the kitchen left clean and tidy. Also please ensure all electrical appliances are switched off, including the lights.
The heating is on a timer but if the price of oil escalates, we will have to impose a fuel surcharge pro rata, so please be as economical as possible.
The caretaker will adjust the timer if necessary.

Free computer courses are being offered in the Community Hall by Paston College during November. Please see notices around the village or call (01263) 519454 or
e-mailjohnmorgan@north-norfolk.gov.uk.

Slimming World is also beginning in November atthe Community Hall on Thursday evenings at 7pm. Once again, please see notices around the village or call Barbara on (01692) 584238.

It has been confirmed that the public toilets at the Staithe will remain open for the winter season.

The Mobile Police Unit's next visit is at the Chapel Car Park on Friday, 18th November, from 10.15am to 12.30pm. Please make use of this valuable service.

The next parish council meeting is at 7.15pm on Monday, 7th November, at the Community Hall. All parishioners are very welcome to attend.
