PARISH CHAIRMAN'S REPORT November 2009

The Parish Council has agreed to no increase in the precept for 2010-2011, so it will remain
at £7612

Please note some remedial work will be undertaken alongside part of the quay heading at the parish staithe over the winter months. This will involve some top soil being removed, some permeable material installed and the soil replaced, left for a couple of months to settle down and then topped up and re-turfed.
It would be appreciated if people could refrain from walking on this area whilst the work is ongoing as due to the nature of the work it will be quite muddy.
We hope any disruption will be kept to a minimum and everyone’s patience would be appreciated.

The Parish Council has donated £75 to the Dial-a-Ride service provided by North Walsham
Area Community Transport Assoc. (NWACTA) as Hickling parishioners had used it for 214
journeys in the last 12 months.
One part of NWACTA’s funding has been withdrawn for this coming year.

Questionnaire results, although these were reported in the May’s news sheet and at the Annual Parish Meeting they were only draft figures as not all questionnaires had been counted or checked, consequently the figures have been updated as follows:-
767 delivered, 572 Returned = 75%, 337 Yes in favour = 64%, 192 No against = 36%,
43 undecided or blank which are NOT included in either Yes or No votes.
There were 258 comments, 713 requests for different facilities, top 5 – cinema, PO, social,
youth club, sports.
We had 19 volunteers to run various activities and 31 people willing to help with the building.
Please see New Build update included with the news sheet!

Many thanks to David Skinner and his hard working band of volunteers on the great job done at the Chapel Pit on the clear up day in November.
Once again the parish council and all the visitors to the Chapel Pit very much appreciate the time and effort they all put in to keep this area in looking good.

Next Parish Council meetings;
7th December at 7.15pm in the Community Hall
11th January 2010 at 7.15pm in the Community Hall
