CHAIRMAN'S REPORT NOVEMBER 2006

The allotment is still available for renting from March 2007 in Hickling. It is a grassed area of
1 acre, with the resulting hay used for horses. The rent is £80 per annum.
This can be let to someone outside Hickling as we have had no response from a parishioner.
If you know someone who may be interested, please contact me on 598410 or Shirley on 598882.
If we have no response, the allotment will be returned to Major Mills' agents.

The dark nights are upon us again and it has been brought to the Council's attention about the dangers of bikers and walkers not having any lights or reflective clothing on. Parents, please ensure your children have working lights on their bikes and are aware of the dangers on our unlit roads.

The recent flooding has been a reminder of the need to keep our ditches and dykes clear of debris at all times. Please do not put your garden waste in the road dykes, ie grass clippings.
There is information available about composting your garden waste and about flooding. If anyone is interested, please contact Shirley on 598882.

We have a received a leaflet about Dial-A-Bus which operates from North Walsham and visits Hickling. A poster has been put on the GAM board at the Parish Staithe or phone direct on 01692 500840 for more information.

The Hickling Staithe will be having some work undertaken over the winter months as a small part is being dredged and the remaining quay headings are being replaced. So please be aware that your boat may have to be moved for a short period. Please speak with Harry Nudd about this if you have any concerns.

Over the festive season, if you notice the bottle banks getting full, please contact me on 598410 or Shirley on 598882 so we can arrange for them to be emptied. Please DO NOT leave bottles or glass outside of the banks as this is potentially dangerous for users of the banks.

The next visit of the Mobile Police Van is at the Methodist Car Park on Friday, 15th December, from 10.15am - 12.30pm. Please avail yourself of this service.

At the Parish Council meeting on 6th November, visitors and councillors joined in a minute's silence held in memory of John Beales. Please see the Parish Council's tribute to John elsewhere in this News Sheet.

The next Parish Council meeting is on Monday, 11th December, in the Community Hall at 7.15pm
All are invited to attend.

The Hickling Parish Council would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Viv Tallowin, 598410
