PARISH COUNCIL CHAIRMAN'S REPORT - MAY 2008
The meeting on the 19th of May in St Mary's Church on the Coastal Flooding issue was very well attended, with between 250-300 people.
I was pleased to be asked to chair the meeting, and would like to thank Ken Barnes and Eric Lindo for organising the meeting after being elected to fight this cause on behalf of Hickling parishioners. Their report is included in this News Sheet.
Please keep an eye open for notices about any forthcoming meetings, as they may not coincide with the monthly News Sheet publication.
There will also be an update at the Parish Council meeting on 16th June at 7.15pm before the public participation.
An initial meeting, consisting of three parish councillors from each affected parish, was held on 22nd May to form a group - the North East Norfolk Coastal Parish Group.
A meeting has been arranged with Shaun Thomas, Regional Director of East Anglia Natural England on 23rd June, followed by a meeting in July (date to be confirmed) with Phil Woolas, the Flood Minister.

We have co-opted Mr Martyn Scott as the new councillor on to the Parish Council and welcome him on board. We would like to thank the unsuccessful candidates and hope that when another vacancy occurs, they will again apply.

There is still some vandalism taking place in the old bowling green area, where some youngsters are kicking in the old fencing and leaving it lying around on the grass.
This means that the grass cutters have to clear the area beforehand, making the job that much longer.
The PCSO has been asked to patrol this area more often, so if you see anything, please phone them on 08454 564567 as soon as possible.

We would like to thank Rachel Lawes and her group of helpers, including husbands, for the hard work and time they put into refurbishing the play area.
Three new pieces of equipment have now been installed.
This makes another pleasant area for the people of Hickling - or visitors - to take their children and enjoy.

Future parish council meetings in the Community Hall at 7.15pm
are on 14th July and 1 st September.

All are welcome.
