CHAIRMAN'S REPORT JUNE 2006
I would like to remind all parishioners that any correspondence or queries addressed to the Parish Council must be with the Clerk 7 days before the meeting. This enables the Councillors or Clerk to check on any details and to ensure it is added to the agenda, which goes out 3 clear days before the meeting.

We are looking for volunteers to be on the Steering Committee of the Village Plan as it is a village project and requires people not connected to the Parish Council to ensure a balanced view.
If interested, please contact me on 598410 or Shirley on 598882.
This should not take up too much of anyone's time. We are hoping for a public meeting(s) towards the end of July to show the results of the questionnaires that have now been collated. Please keep a look out for posters showing the dates. Also, please do not hesitate to contact me or Shirley if you wish your name to be put on the list of volunteers for any of the groups mentioned in the questionnaire, as all are very welcome.

Hickling Broad Aquatic Plant Monitoring Situation as at May 2006 showed the Secchi depth was 0.44m in mid-May and showed no improvements from April. Water clarity was poorer than that recorded in May for the previous 5 years.
The full report is posted on the GAM notice board at the Staithe.

We would like to extend our thanks to the Staithe Working Party who tidied up the Staithe on 3rd June. Many thanks to Mrs Pat Deane who arranged for the District Council to take away all the rubbish that had been picked up.

The Parish Council has had to refuse the request from Mr Warrell who wished to use the Parish Staithe for boat trips as he cannot use the Pleasure Boat Staithe this season.
It was felt that the boat was too big for the Parish Staithe and posed a danger to boats moored up. We will write to the relevant authorities to ask them to reconsider his application, as it also brings visitors to our area.

There will be no Parish Council meeting in August, but we will be inspecting all Parish Council property that month. So if you are aware of any problems, please contact me or Shirley so it can be looked at and assessed.

Our Parish Liaison Officer for Hickling is now PC9120 Jeffries based at Stalham Police Station, who can be contacted on 01692 401155 or via the Central Switchboard on 01953 424242.

The next visit of the Mobile Police Van is on Friday, 28th July from 10.15am-12.30pm at the Chapel Car-Park.

The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday, 10th July, at 7.15pm in the Community Hall. All parishioners are welcome to attend.
