PARISH COUNCIL
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT -
July 2009
HEARA's Ken Barnes attended the Parish Council meeting on 13th July and
gave a brief overview of the two important meetings recently attended.
The DEFRA consultation paper has been published, with any comments to
be returned by 30th September, to which both the Parish Council and HEARA
will respond.
Last month's item about the new bus stops in Hickling appears to have
caused some confusion over the 'Hail and Stop' practice. Apparently, this
is not being phased out and will continue.
Although the Parish Council voted on selling the Community Hall, obviously
this will take time and the hall will still be there, but as certain groups
required a time frame for their future planning dates, the Council had
to nominate a 'cut-off date which was 31st July.
At the moment, the hall is still available for hire as normal.
Unfortunately, this is a situation where the 'goal posts' keep moving
- we wish to keep the hall as long as possible for people to use.
Dog poo around the village has been reported again, this time in the road
leading up to Brightmere Farm. We do have a lot of visitors this time
of year, but can villagers also please ensure they clean up after their
dogs, as this will help keep the village clean and looking nice for parishioners
and visitors alike.
We have been informed of a booklet called 'Manage your Finances', issued
by Norfolk County Council. It is available from their Customer Services
Centre on 0344 800 8020 or via the website: www.norfolk.qov.uk/managingyourfinances.
This is a reference guide to signpost people to the free help and support
available in this economic downturn.
There is no Council meeting in August.
The next one will be Monday 7th September, at 7.15pm
in the Community Hall.
