PARISH COUNCIL CHAIRMAN'S REPORT - JULY 2007
The Parish Council have not received any response to last month's item about the voluntary speed camera scheme. So if anyone is still considering being a volunteer, please do get in touch with either me on 598410 or Shirley on 598882.
The leaflet with further information will be posted on the GAM board at the Staithe for a few more weeks.

Also, there was no response about the grass-strimming or grass-cutting, so once again, if you are still considering either of these jobs, please get in touch.
By doing these voluntary jobs, it does save the Parish Council money.

The Chapel Pit is well on its way to being a very pleasant area to sit or just feed the ducks.
The seats and picnic table will be installed very soon, as will a new notice board.
The notice board will have an open side whereby anyone can pin on a notice/advert, but it will be monitored to ensure suitable material only is displayed.
The Unpaid Work Unit of Great Yarmouth have done a great job of laying the cement slabs, redoing the edging of the car park and raking out 7 tons of shingle, painting the inside of the bus shelter, and strimming around the edge of the pond.
We would like to thank the Methodist church who kindly let them use their facilities while on site. The Parish Council has purchased another bench with a brass plaque in memory of John Beales, who served the Hickling Parish Council for over 60 years, and this will also be installed at the Pit for everyone to enjoy.

The children's play area is high on the Council's agenda with a view to a complete overhall, hopefully with some sort of grant. If there are any parents wishing to get involved in deciding what equipment is required, please contact me or Shirley.

We now have a Health and Safety Officer on board who will do a report on all parish council property to ensure we are up to date with all aspects of Health and Safety.

Highways are investigating the issue of flooding in Ouse Lane, Stubb Road (near the Greyhound) and the Stalham Road and some corrective measures have already been taken. Others will take longer to correct.

The missing signs in Hickling have been followed up and we will be receiving an update shortly which will show what signs will be replaced in the conning year.

Vandalism does cost the Parish Council and parishioners money - our money! So please be more vigilant and use your cameras/phones to take any relevant pictures and pass on the Parish Council or contact our Community Police Officer direct on 0845 456 4567 with any information you may have.

Future Parish Council meetings dates - all at 7.15pm in the Community Hall - are
3rd September, 1 st October, 5 November and 3rd December.
