PARISH COUNCIL
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT -
JANURARY 2009
HEARA updated us on
the current situation and Eric is trying to get as much publicity as possible
to keep the 'powers that be' in the picture to ensure they know we are
still fighting our corner.
We must continue fighting for Hickling.
Please see HEARA's report in Village News.
We would like to thank the young people who came to the meeting in the
Community Hall in January and gave us some very interesting ideas for
what facilities they felt young people would appreciate in the village.
These ideas will be investigated as to whether they are viable options.
Stalham & Happing Festival 2009 will be producing a brochure advertising
events taking place from May to September around this area.
If you are organising an event and wish to advertise in the brochure,
please visit the Partnership shop in Stalham, telephone 01692 580525 or
e-mail happing@btinternet.com with details.
The local PCSO Jeanette Hawes attended the last parish council meeting
when speeding was discussed. They will try and get another SAM visit to
Hickling, but she stressed the most effective way to monitor this problem
is to join the Speed Watch Scheme, perhaps by teaming up with near-by
villages - see separate piece elsewhere in the News Sheet.
Unfortunately, we have some joy riders visiting the village who are driving
over grass verges, making deep ruts and muddy areas, but until the vehicle/culprit
is seen in action, there is nothing the police can do about it.
Please if you happen to see or know the culprit, please contact me, the
Clerk or the PCSO direct. (see below)
The next Parish Council meeting is at the Community Hall on Monday, 2nd
February, at 7.15pm. All parishioners are welcome to attend.
