CHAIRMAN'S REPORT JANUARY 2007

A reminder that elections will be held on 3rd May, which will include the election of Parish Councillors for the next four years. There is a notice on the GAM board at the Staithe and, of course, anyone who is interested in standing for the election can telephone me for an informal chat about what is involved.

The Parish Council has had reports of vehicles parking on the grass verge at the end of Broadlands Road. The verges are there for the safety of drivers, either when emerging from Broadlands, or when travelling along Heath Road. By parking there, visibility is restricted which could cause accidents. If you know of anyone parking here, please call me or Shirley on 598882 and we will endeavour to contact the person concerned, or you can report it directly to the police on 01692401095.

Stalham & Happing Partnership are planning a Happing Festival 2007, holding and supporting events in the Happing area, including Hickling. The main event will take place in June, but there will be events before and after this date. They hope to publish a guide which will include all the events around the entire area. So if you are putting on an event - or know someone who is - please contact the Clerk, Shirley, on 598882; Robert Stevens on 583271; or e-mail jayne@supavest.co.uk at the Stalham & Happing Shop in Stalham.

The Mobile Police Van has been off the road for various reasons in the past few months, so my apologies to anyone who visited the Methodist Car Park with intentions of speaking to the police; no one informed me they were not there! At the moment, the police are not sure whether they will continue with this service, but they will keep us informed. In the meantime, the North Walsham Police contact number is 01692-401095.

The next Parish Council meeting is on the 5th of March in the Community Hall at7.15pm. All are welcome.
