PARISH CHAIRMAN'S REPORT August 2009

Due to various reasons, we have vacancies for councillors on the Parish Council.
If you feel you would like to be involved in the future of Hickling village and can spare a few hours per month, please contact myself on 598410 or the Clerk on 598882 or write to the Clerk, Briarley Lodge, Stubb Road, Hickling. NR12 0BN as soon as possible if you would like to be considered.

The Clerk has informed me that not all the wet Berth Waiting List replies have been received.
If you wish to remain on the waiting list then please ensure you respond by 30th Sept or you will be removed from the list.

In the children's play area we have another 5 new pieces of equipment for the children to use, this was a result of the young mums and The Greyhound having a fund raising event.
This is very much appreciated and many thanks to all who were involved in getting this new equipment installed.

Hickling is now part of the new Rural Road Safety Development Project which is funded by Norfolk County Council and staffed by the Norfolk Safety Camera Partnership.
The van is complete with flashing speed signs and will visit various Broadland villages on a regular monthly basis.
They will visit a different part of the village each time.
We are in receipt of the results and in the first 3 visits the signs were activated: 4 times in May, 3 times in June and 3 times in July.
This has replaced the SAM (Speed Awareness Message) vehicles and gives us an indication that speeding is an issue in certain parts of the village.

Viv Tallowin, Chairman.

The next Parish Council Meeting will be held at 7.15pm in Community Hall on Monday, 7th September.
