PARISH COUNCIL
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT -
APRIL 2009
A year on, and due to HEARA's persistence and the
support of the village, we have achieved the outcome that Hickling and
its residents deserve. As a Parish Council, we cannot thank Eric and Ken
enough for all their time and effort they put into this. Unfortunately,
our hands are tied in giving any financial reward other than any expenses
incurred, so we decided on an informal gathering after the Annual Parish
Meeting which was held on 29th April to thank them personally.
The results of the questionnaire on the Recreation Ground have been collated
and are as follows: 767 delivered, 551 collected (excluding 43 blank or
undecided).
This was a turnout of 72%, with 55% in favour, 37% against, and 8% blank
or undecided.
There were several volunteers who offered to run clubs/events etc and
also offers from people with various skills. We would like to thank them
and everyone who returned their questionnaires.
Unfortunately, we still have some problems with people insisting on driving
over the banks at the Staithe. The result is one new reflector post already
being broken - the police are aware.
Although we had one volunteer for the Emergency Planning project, we do
need some more.
This will only require a few hours per month to start with, then just
a few hours per year once the plan is completed and documented. It is
similar to Neighbourhood Watch, whereby a list is held of all persons
with equipment, skills or those just willing to help out in the event
of a crisis in the village.
If you think you would like to be involved in this project, please contact
the Clerk.
