PARISH
COUNCIL CHAIRMAN'S REPORT APRIL 2007 As the term of office for all councillors is coming to an end on the 3rd of May, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the councillors who have served on the Parish Council in the last four years. There will be no parish election on 3rd May as not enough people applied, so if anyone is interested in becoming a Parish Councillor, please contact the Clerk, Shirley, on 598882 before the 15th of May. The successful candidates will be co-opted at the Annual Parish Council meeting on the 21st of May. The election on 3rd May in the Community Hall, therefore, will only be for District Councillors. Although the Village Plan itself has not been completed, i.e., final copy produced, there are various items that have either been resolved or in the process of being investigated The final village plan hopefully will be ready for printing and distribution in the late summer. Following on from the Village Plan, we are looking to set up a Conservation Group (3-6 people) who would be willing to take over the organisation of the maintenance of the Chapel Pit to keep vegetation under control and the pond area looking neat and tidy all year round. This would involve organising working parties, perhaps 1-2 times per year, and liasing with the Unpaid Work Unit of Great Yarmouth, who cleared the area for us last year. We are hoping to install a picnic table and another bench in the future. Please contact me on 598410 or Shirley on 598882 if you are interested. We have had a spate of minor vandalism around the village. If anyone sees anything suspicious, please contact either me, Shirley or the local Community Police Officer on 0845 456 4567. There has not been any further information about the Mobile Police Van visits to Hickling, so if you have any problems, please contact the North Walsham Police Station on 01692 401095 or the Community Support Officer, again on 0845 4564567. The Annual Parish Council Meeting, an important meeting for all parishioners, will be held on 21st May at 7.15pm in the Community Hall. Viv Tallowin, 598410 |
