A pleasant afternoon is had, with tea and biscuits and a free raffle. subscription is £1-50p.

This club was started in 1952, then called The Forget Me Not Club.
In an effort to bring it up to date, it was changed to The Cameo Club.
Recently a vote was taken on a number of names put forward and it is now "The Friendship Club".

The lower age limit was originally 60, but in an order to gain more members, this was lowered to 55.

Throughput the year they have various outings to local restaurants and a Christmas trip to the "Thursford Carol Concert", all free of charge to club members.

They would dearly love to have new members and would be open to suggestions for other activities to be considered.
It would be sad to see such a happy club close through lack of members.

Go along and give it a try, you certainly be welcomed and who knows, you may enjoy yourself!

Hickling Bowls Club

The Bowls Club was formed over 60 years ago in 1932, and has played on the same green just off Stubb Road ever since. The green has a lovely setting, bordered on one side by flower beds, with a fine Clubhouse, and a good view of Hickling mill. Also, there is a small car parking area.

Outdoor green bowling has a long history in England, with many famous players in the past, including Henry VIII and Sir Francis Drake. Quite how they managed to keep their greens up to scratch is hard to comprehend. Our green has a high reputation in the area, which reflects the huge amount of time and effort put in by our green keeper and his assistants. Not only does it look good, it also plays beautifully.

Of course, outdoor bowling has a short season, as we are dependent on light summer evenings for most of our fixtures, playing throughout May, June, July and August. During these few months there is no let up: we play in three leagues: Great Yarmouth, Broadland and the County 3wood; also we have various cup matches. Then there are the Club competitions for singles and pairs.
During the season there are our well supported BBQs - open to members and friends - when a "friendly" bowls competition is combined with socialising round the barbecue - what better way to pass a summer's evening!

Though we are a small club in numbers, we are a big club in friendship and support. If you would like to find out more, come along any evening when we are playing at home and have a chat.
